Choosing a pen for your wedding guest book
We’re often asked for pen recommendations for our books. Here are some thoughts to help you make your selection.
My favorite pen is the Uniball Signo 207 with a 0.7 mm tip size. The Signo 207 is a retractable, archival quality gel ink pen available in a wide array of colors. It writes smoothly and doesn’t smear. It will work well for signature registries or message as well as photo booth books or albums with card stock sheets. It’s also inexpensive and readily available - you can’t go wrong with this pen!
If you’d like a pen with more bling, check out the Crystal Pen. We received this tip from our customer Amanda, and decided to check it out for ourselves. The Crystal Pen combines style and practicality. This ballpoint pen features a clean white shaft, a glittery top, and a silver tip. The ink is basic black ballpoint. It’s no Signo 207 when it comes to smooth writing, but it’s a very nice ballpoint pen suitable for a signature registry or messages, with a gorgeous presentation alongside your guest book.
The MengRan Bling Slim Crystal Diamond Ballpoint Pen is similar to the Crystal pen, but available in several colors.
Finally, the Sharpie - my second favorite writing instrument. The Sharpie fine point marker is ideal for our books with card stock sheets. The metallic gold and silver are a must for black card stock. For books with text weight sheets, stick with one of the other recommended pens. A sharpie doesn’t bleed through, but the writing will show from the backside of our text-weight sheets so I don’t recommend them in that case. The exception might be the retractable ultra fine point sharpie – they look great but I have not yet tried them. Stay tuned for updates!
